Pluris is seeking a Managing Director in charge of portfolio valuation and pricing services. This practice leadership position is an equity-track position. The chosen candidate will be primarily responsible for all aspects of our portfolio valuation services, including outreach to hedge funds, private equity funds, and institutions; business development and onstreaming of new clients; management of client relationships; hiring, training, management, and retention of valuation staff; and the overall profitability of the portfolio valuation practice. Responsibilities will include:
- Business Development and Sales
- Proactive outreach to current contacts and prospecting for new contacts, at investment funds and institutions; and
- Negotiate daily, monthly, or quarterly valuation relationships and fee arrangements, and prepare retainer letters.
- Management of Valuation Process
- Manage client relationships;
- Manage the data sourcing, downloading, and analysis process through our existing valuation models, and proactively work to improve the models;
- Direct junior staff towards on-time completion of periodic valuation deliverables;
- Perform research on illiquid securities trading data from the secondary market and supervise staff in analyzing trading data;
- Update valuation models based on securities trading data research.
- Recruitment, Development, and Management
- Identify candidates and conduct interviews for analyst positions;
- Implement ongoing on-the-job training;
- Monitor performance of junior staff;
- Staff valuation assignments; and
- Assist in the management of the analyst internship program.

- Able and motivated to develop business through direct and aggressive sales efforts;
- Broad network of industry contacts within, or close to, the financial reporting, internal reporting, securities pricing, or similar functions within investment funds and financial institutions;
- Thorough understanding of financial, investment and valuation theory and application;
- Strong attention to detail in reviewing financial models and valuation analyses;
- Superior oral and written communication skills;
- Proven track record of successful leadership and mentoring of junior staff;
- Desire to continually improve products and services through independent research;
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team;
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments simultaneously; and
- Seeking to join an early-stage firm with significant long-term equity appreciation potential.
Requirements
- Proven success in business development;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
- Minimum of 3 years successful leadership experience mentoring staff;
- CFA preferred; and
- Familiarity with the financial reporting and internal reporting requirements of investment funds and financial institutions.
Compensation
- Salary plus bonus based on achieving targets with respect to the revenues and profits of the group;
- Base salary commensurate with education, experience, and proven success; and
